I offer one service: special education advocacy and consulting for families navigating the Virginia education system.
What that looks like in practice depends entirely on your child and where you are in the process. No two families look the same. No two plans look the same.
I work with families whose children don't yet have any services, and I work with families whose children have had an IEP for years that isn't being followed, is insufficient, or simply isn't working. Wherever you are, I can help you figure out where to go next.
What Working Together Looks Like
Every engagement begins with a thorough review of all existing records and documentation. From there, I develop a proposed action plan and walk you through it step by step, explaining not just what we're going to do, but why.
From that point, my involvement is shaped by what your child needs. It may include:

Drafting and sending strategic communications to the school on your behalf.

Attending IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and any other special education meetings, in person or virtually.

Reviewing IEP documents, progress reports, and evaluation data to ensure they're accurate, appropriate, and meaningful for your child.

Writing or revising IEP goals and accommodations that reflect what your child genuinely needs.

Conducting informal assessments in reading or communication to get a clearer picture of where your child is, when needed.

Tracking progress and flagging when something isn't working.

Coordinating with other professionals, including special education attorneys when necessary.
The intensity of our work together will naturally vary. The beginning is often the most active period. There will be quieter stretches once we've secured the right services. And there will be times when something comes up and we need to move quickly again. I'm always available, and we stay in consistent communication throughout.
What makes this different.
There's something else worth naming. You can walk out of an IEP meeting with everything you asked for written down, and still have a child who isn't getting what they need on Monday morning. A document is not a plan. Signatures are not implementation.
I don't do performative. I don't do transactional. What I work toward in every meeting is something harder and more valuable: real transparency. A team that feels safe enough to be honest about what's working, what isn't, and what's actually possible right now. That doesn't happen through pressure alone. It happens through strategy, through relationship, and through creating enough trust in the room that people stop performing and start problem-solving.

I serve families across Virginia, with a primary focus on Northern Virginia. All special education meetings are conducted virtually, no matter where you are in the state. For families in Northern Virginia, I'm also available in person for school observations, home visits, and assessments. For families further out, I work virtually and find creative ways to get to know your child beyond the paperwork.
A Note On Evaluations
Evaluations are one of the most critical pieces of the special education process, and one of the most misunderstood. I bring deep experience analyzing assessment data, identifying gaps, and determining whether an evaluation is actually appropriate and comprehensive for a specific child's profile. I know what questions to ask, what to push back on, and what's missing. If an Independent Educational Evaluation is needed, I have a trusted network of evaluators I can refer you to.
